Kelly is Moving to Ireland!
This series is typically taught by our fabulous dietician, Kelly Morrow. Kelly is unavailable this month and so Laurie will be including more recipes and dietary suggestions than usual in her course on the 28th.
Critical for the Intestinal Microbiome
Fiber plays a critical role in maintaining a healthy microbiome. We'll dive into the forms of fiber that are best able to increase short chain fatty acids and feed the "right" bugs in your gut.
Soluble Fiber
Examples: oats, barley, chia, flax, apples, citrus, beans
Forms gel → lowers cholesterol, stabilizes blood sugar
Insoluble Fiber
Examples: wheat bran, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fruit/veg skins
Adds bulk → speeds transit
Resistant Starch
Examples: cooled potatoes, green bananas, lentils
Feeds beneficial microbes
